Understanding natural variation
A photograph introduces a material, but individual slabs vary. Review current slab photographs and samples in the intended lighting. For larger surfaces, consider the position and direction of the veining before cutting.
Read the whole surface
The colour and movement seen in a small sample may change across a larger slab. For a wide wall or worktop, review a full-slab image alongside the intended dimensions.
Plan the direction of the vein
Indicate which way the pattern should run and where panels meet. Where a continuous vein composition is shown in a catalogue, confirm panel sequence, dimensions and installation layout.
Confirm the selected pieces
Screen settings and lighting affect the way a photograph appears. Keep the material code and catalogue page with the project brief, then approve current samples or slab images before cutting.
